Percy Bysshe Shelley
A Lament
I
O world! O life! O time!
On whose last steps I climb,
Trembling at that where I have stood before;
When will return the glory of your prime
No more - Oh, never more!
II
Out of the day and night
A joy has taken flight;
Fresh spring, and summer, and winter hoar,
Move my faint heart with grief, but with delight
No more - Oh, never more!
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Klage
Ü: Josef Riga
I
Oh Leben, Welt und Zeit!
Zum letzten Schritt bereit,
Kam über deine Stufen zitternd her;
Trag ich nochmals der Jugend schönes Kleid?
Nie mehr - wohl niemals mehr!
II
So zwischen Tag und Nacht
Ist alle Lust verflacht
Am Mai, am Sommer und am Winter; schwer
Wird jetzt mein Herz - sucht, was ihm Freude bracht'
Nie mehr - wohl niemals mehr!
